In 1996 our Water Project was completed through the efforts of the peasants in our villages and with funding from a Church Parish in Florida. From a tiny source of spring water that was discovered in the mountains, the Mission’s Engineers developed a Water System which flows eight miles up and down the mountains to 7 of our Villages, including Kobonal. Our peasant families now have access to filtered spring water. We have 7 water stations that we call Fountains that are opened from 6 to 9am and 3 to 6pm. Each of the Fountains is supervised by fathers of the Mission’s school children. Each Fountain Attendant is employed to oversee the distribution of the water to each family. The overflow of the water goes into gardens around the Mission and for the irrigation of fields and watering of our pigs and chickens.
